Losing weight is a never-ending battle ground of diets and a time consuming process, but one that can vastly improve your life. It's both the shallowest and most arduous task to try and find the perfect diet, so we compiled an extensive list of some of the most popular ones out there today.
The Lemonade Diet is a form of fasting which focuses on the juice of lemons, filtered water and maple syrup. The Lemonade diet is a form of detoxification and is one of the most popular diets in recent history.
Originating from Stanley Burroughs' book, "The Master Cleanser", it became widely popularized by Joe Cross's documentary film, "Fat, Sick And Nearly Dead".
Now that we have the history lesson out of the way, let's get down to business.
What is a Lemonade Diet?
The Lemonade Diet is a popular form of detoxification which uses fresh lemons, filtered water and maple syrup as its main ingredients.
Athletes and bodybuilders have used this diet to help give them an extra edge, as lemons are packed with vitamins.
The diet is seen by exercise enthusiasts as the ultimate slimming experience and although the number of calories will be restricted, it's all part of the necessary process.
How to Do the Lemonade Diet?
There are different variations of the lemonade diet, based on your particular tastes and dietary requirements.
I. Standard Master Cleanse
The standard master cleanse diet is a 7-day fast where you will consume nothing except a lemonade drink and water. The idea is to help flush out your digestive system and eliminate toxins from your body.
*Day 1 and Day 2: Consume one glass of lemon juice (the juice from approximately 2-3 lemons) in the morning when you wake up, one glass before lunch, another glass before dinner and then before bedtime.
*Day 3 and Day 4: This is where you start to loosen up a little bit. Consume one glass of lemon juice in the morning when you wake up, one glass at lunchtime and then another before dinner and before bedtime.
*Days 5-7: The final day of the diet is all about having fun, so enjoy your lemonade as much as you like.
II. From The Old to the New
The standard cleanse is a 7-day detoxification fast, where you will consume nothing except a lemonade drink and water.
This is where the master cleanse becomes a little more loaded with calories, but it still retains it's detox qualities and is highly regarded by many people.
*You will consume two tablespoons of lemon juice and one cup of warm water. You should then drink this over a period of 5 minutes, to ensure that you have properly digested the lemon juice.
*The second dose is the same as the first, except that it should be followed by an 8oz glass of fresh-squeezed lemonade (from approximately 3 lemons). This should be consumed with a pinch of salt and followed by another 8oz glass of water.
*You will then repeat this schedule of lemonade and water for 5 days, until you complete your final dose.
III. New, but Not Necessarily Better
The new cleanse is a more advanced version of the standard cleanse, but it is also considerably more time intensive.
The old cleanse involves consuming nothing other than water and lemon juice. The new cleanse involves drinking a glass of lemonade in order to aid weight loss.
You should drink half a cup of lemon juice mixed with one cup of warm water over a period of 10 minutes.
This should be followed by a glass of fresh-squeezed lemonade (from approximately 3 lemons). This is recommended to be consumed with a pinch of salt and followed by another 8oz glass of water.
*For the next 4 days, you should consume the same dosage as the second day, but this time with one extra glass before bedtime (for a total of 2 glasses).
*You will then repeat this procedure for 5 days (but only consuming one glass before bedtime each night) and then you will be allowed to start your final day.
IV. Again, Not Necessarily Better
This diet is based on the lemonade used for the new cleanse, but it is a little more general in terms of the ingredients.
You will still be drinking a dose of lemonade but you can add in any other refreshing drinks that you would like to this, such as grapefruit juice or ginger ale.
For optimum results, you should be consuming 1/2 a cup of lemon juice mixed with one cup of warm water over a period of 10 minutes. This should be followed by a glass of fresh-squeezed lemonade (from approximately 3 lemons), which should be consumed with a pinch of salt and followed by another 8oz glass of water.
*For the first 5 days, you will consume this dose twice each day (once in the morning and then again at night). You will then complete your final day as normal.
V. Neverending Lemons
The neverending lemon diet is a progression of the "New, but Not Necessarily Better" diet and should only be approached by those who are extremely serious about losing weight.
*For the first 5 days, you will consume your first glass in the morning and then your second in the evening. For the next two days, you will consume two glasses in the morning and one before bedtime. For the next 2 days you will consume one glass in the morning and two at night.
*You will then repeat the same schedule for 5 more days and you will finish your diet with the highly recommended final 3 days of just drinking one glass in the morning.
This is a great diet for those who are really serious about getting in shape and although it is a long process, there may be some benefit to be found.
VI. Lemon-Loving Lemons
This is perhaps the most simple variation of the lemonade diet and should only be approached by those who do not mind their taste buds being a little bit sour.
*For the first day, you will consume nothing except one glass of warm water and one glass containing 1/2 a cup of lemon juice and 2 tablespoons of maple syrup.
This should be consumed over a period of 10 minutes, before being consumed with one 8oz glass of water.
*For the next 6 days, you will consume two glasses of the same mixture and water. This should be consumed in the same manner as before and is best served at night (before going to sleep).
VII. Lemonade Diet Punch
This diet looks like it was designed by a 5-year old kid, but it's still pretty good.
*On day one and every day after, you will consume a glass of warm water and then a glass containing 1/2 a cup of lemon juice and 2 tablespoons of sugar.
